Online Therapy in New Jersey — Senior Specialists, Real Progress
Secure HIPAA-compliant video sessions with senior NJ-licensed clinicians. Small caseloads, specialty depth, and the same focused work as our in-person practice — wherever you are in the state.

Talk with a clinician about what’s going on. We’ll help you decide whether to book — and with whom — without any pressure to commit.
Therapy that fits your real life
Telehealth at Maplewood Counseling isn’t a substitute for “real” therapy — it IS our practice for people whose schedules, locations, or preferences make virtual the better fit.
You’ll find this works for you if:
- You’re a parent with young kids and can’t afford a 90-minute round trip to a therapist’s office
- You work shift hours, evenings, or weekends and need someone with availability when you’re actually free
- You live in a part of NJ where there aren’t senior specialty therapists nearby
- You value privacy and prefer not to be seen in a waiting room
- You travel for work and need continuity that survives location changes
- You’ve tried local therapy that didn’t go deep enough, and you’re ready for senior specialty care
- You’re considering it for couples therapy and your schedules never align in person
The same focused work, wherever you are
We’ve practiced in Maplewood, NJ since 2005. Telehealth lets us bring that same work into your living room, your kitchen table, or anywhere quiet enough for 50 minutes of meaningful conversation.
Our team
Each of our therapists is NJ-licensed and brings 5–25+ years of specialty experience — including advanced training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), attachment-based and trauma-informed approaches.
A real conversation to start
Your Fit Call is a real conversation with a clinician on our team. We listen first, ask thoughtful questions, and help you think about what might be most useful — including which therapist on our team feels right for what you’re navigating.
Where we focus
Couples therapy, infidelity recovery, premarital work, family therapy, parenting, and individual work for the anxiety and grief that often shows up alongside relationship transitions.
A steady rhythm
50-minute sessions, weekly, with the same therapist for as long as feels useful. We see therapy as a real relationship — one that builds over time.
Out-of-network practice
We provide monthly superbills for OON reimbursement, and we accept all major cards plus HSA/FSA. We’ll walk through what your benefits look like during your Fit Call.
NJ established, statewide reach
Established 2005 at 169 Maplewood Avenue. Available via secure video for NJ residents anywhere in the state. Many clients combine telehealth with occasional in-person visits.

Out-of-network specialty practice
We’re an out-of-network practice by design. That means smaller caseloads, more attention per client, and senior clinicians who can take the time real work requires.
$195 – $235 / 60-minute session
Range reflects therapist tier (Associate $195 · Senior $235). Individual 45-min sessions also available ($160 Associate / $195 Senior). Couples and family sessions are always 60 minutes.
We provide superbills automatically each month. FSA / HSA cards accepted. All major credit cards accepted.
Frequently asked questions
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Research consistently shows online therapy is as effective as in-person for most concerns — including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma. The difference is mostly about preference and fit, not effectiveness. For some clients telehealth actually works better because they’re in their own space and can show up more fully.
Do I need to live in New Jersey?
You need to be physically located in New Jersey at the time of your session. Most of our clients are NJ residents, but the rule is about where you are during the session, not where you live. (NJ-licensed clinicians can only see clients physically in NJ.)
What if I want to switch back to in-person later?
That’s fine — most of our clinicians offer both virtual and in-person at our Maplewood office (169 Maplewood Avenue, Suite 4). Switch any time.
Can couples do therapy together if we’re in different places?
Yes, as long as both partners are in New Jersey. Many of our couples connect from two different homes (deployments, work travel, separation, or just two different schedules).
How do I know if you accept my insurance?
We’re out-of-network with all carriers. We provide superbills monthly for you to submit. We can help you figure out your specific OON benefits during your Fit Call. Most premium NJ plans (Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare PPO/POS) reimburse 50–80% per session after deductible.
What if I’m not sure I’m ready for therapy?
That’s exactly what the Fit Call is for. It’s free, 15 minutes, and there’s zero pressure to commit. Many people use it to figure out if we’re the right fit, what kind of work might help, or even whether they want therapy at all.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients / couples?
Yes — we’re an LGBTQ+ affirming practice. Several of our clinicians have specialty training in working with queer individuals, couples, and families.
How quickly can I get started?
Most clients schedule a Fit Call within a few days. From Fit Call to first session is typically 1–2 weeks, depending on which therapist you choose and your schedule. Robert and Daphne have strong evening + daytime availability; Natacha has weekend slots.
