How to Leave a Google Review for Maplewood Counseling

If you’ve worked with one of our therapists and you’re open to sharing your experience, a Google review is the single most helpful thing you can do for the practice. It takes about two minutes, and you have full control over how much — or how little — you share publicly.

This page exists because we know therapy is personal. The instructions below walk you through your options, including how to leave a review without using your real name.

Why your review matters

When someone in our community is searching for a therapist, Google reviews are often the first signal they see. A single thoughtful sentence from a past client carries more weight than anything we could say about ourselves. Your review helps the next person decide whether to reach out — which, for someone struggling, can be the hardest step.

Your privacy comes first

You do not have to use your real name. You do not have to mention what you came in for. You do not have to share any detail you’re not comfortable making public. A short, honest sentence is enough.

Three privacy-friendly ways to leave a review

1. Use your initials or first name only. Go to your Google account settings and change your display name to something like “D.F.” or just “Sarah” before posting the review. You can change it back afterward if you’d like.

2. Use a pseudonym. Google allows display names that aren’t your legal name. You can use any first name you’re comfortable with — the review will appear under that name publicly.

3. Keep your review general. You don’t need to mention your specific reason for coming in. Something like “The team here is warm, professional, and easy to talk to” is genuinely helpful and reveals nothing personal.

How to leave the review (step by step)

Step 1. Click this link from your phone or computer: Leave a Google review for Maplewood Counseling

Step 2. If you’re not already signed in, Google will ask you to sign in to a Google or Gmail account. (If you don’t have one, see the section below.)

Step 3. If you want to adjust your display name first, open your Google account info in another tab and change your name to initials or a pseudonym. Then come back to the review tab.

Step 4. Click the star rating you’d like to leave, write a sentence or two, and click Post. That’s it.

What if I don’t have a Google account?

Google reviews require a Google or Gmail account. Creating one takes about two minutes at accounts.google.com/signup. You can use any name you like for the account — it does not need to match your legal name — and you can delete the account later if you’d prefer.

If you’d rather share privately

If a public review feels like too much — even with a pseudonym — please email us instead. Private feedback is just as valuable, and we’re grateful for it the same way we’re grateful for public reviews.

Thank you

Reviews keep small practices like ours visible to the people who need us. Two minutes of your time genuinely makes a difference, and we don’t take it for granted.
