The Out of the Darkness Overnight is a fundraising up to 18 mile walk throughout the night, designed to raise awareness and funds and “bring the issue of suicide out into the light”.
The Overnight is organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, “the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education, and to reaching out to people with mood disorders and those affected by suicide.”
Net proceeds from the Out of the Darkness Overnight benefit (which will be in New York June 4-5 2011) the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to fund educations, research, awareness and survivor programs – both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide.
